I have been in love with vintage clothes since I first laid my eyes upon them. I was out antiquing with my grandma when I saw an exquisite Edwardian lawn dress. It wasn’t common to see vintage clothes at the antique shops we frequented and I couldn’t believe something like that existed. Its delightfully detailed embroidery and luxurious soft cotton texture was a stark contrast to the polyester uniforms I wore to school everyday. It immediately transported me away from my troubles to a world of sumptuous imagination and I couldn’t help but to keep coming back. I couldn’t afford to buy a dress like that then but just knowing it existed put a smile on my face. I opened up Shirley Gertrude Vintage to share my love of vintage and to bewitch others with the thrills of vintage: lavish materials, forgone couturier-esque sewing techniques, and silhouettes of endless curiosity.
